This is a nice kill switch kit that comes with two remote controls to kill power to your car without needing to pop the hood each time you get in and out of the car to do so. I’m dreading just the very idea of it… At any rate, the remotes have already been bound to the device from the factory so there are no complex programming procedures to perform and memorize which is a nice plus. That said, the installation manual wasn’t helpful at all. I had to research online for awhile and look up one for a similar product to get this installed properly so I deducted one star as a result. After some research though, I decided this device wasn’t for me for a couple of reasons. First, battery kill switches are the easiest to install which means it’s also the easiest kill switch for the thief to bypass. If the thief has broken into your car, he can pop the hood. And this is probably the first thing he’ll do when he doesn’t hear the starter after the first cranking attempt. It’s also very likely that he’ll have a 10mm wrench on his person at which point it’d be minutes, if not seconds to disassemble the entire kit off the terminals.Secondly, battery kill switches are apparently infamous for having a large parasitic draw on the batteries. While this device has a fail-safe mechanism to shut itself off automatically were the battery voltage become less than 12 volts, I just don’t like the idea of draining my car battery to the barely-able-to-crank-the-engine threshold ON A DAILY BASIS. I mean, there are many variables that cause voltage levels of batteries that do not even suffer from parasitic draws, such as cold weather. What if I can’t start my car up as a result? This brings me to my final reason.Jump starters need to supply high amperages to start cars with a dead battery. You’ll see the best ones being rated at 1000 and above. Mine is rated at 2000 peak amps. The most this device can handle according to the specs sheet, seems to be 500 peak amps. I think this means I’d need to take the device off before jumping the car if I don’t want it to end up broken. I’m sure that’s going to be a fun exercise when you’re stranded in the middle of nowhere. To close, this is a good device but the cons well outweighed the pros for me to justify leaving it on at the end of the day. That said, your mileage may vary depending on where you live and your tolerance to the points I’ve made thus far. So please do your own research and find out if these types of devices are right for you.

Specifications: Battery disconnect switch rated current: 240A, rated voltage: 12V, standby power consumption: 3mA, power-off threshold: 11.8V±0.2V, instantaneous current: 500A.
Automatic Cut Off Battery: If the voltage is lower than 11.8V, the remote kill switch will automatically cut off the power supply after 120s to save electricity, if the voltage is higher than 13.2V, the remote control will be disabled to prevent accidental action to shut off the power while driving, and the power supply can only be controlled by the button on the switch.
Magnetic Latching Function: This kill switch for car uses a new type of relay that controls circuit disconnection and cut-off by magnetic principle, with a standby current of 3mA, which is more energy-saving.
Protecting Automotive Battery: Using this car battery automatic kill switch can avoid power consumption due to long-term parking, good point of electronic equipment, line aging, forgetting to turn off the light, etc. It can effectively protect and prolong the life of car battery.
Widely Applications: This automatic kill switch suit for most 12V car, boat, Rv, trailer, trucks, ATV, UTV, motorcycle, vehicles with displacement less than 4.0; Negative pole: 9-13 mm and 15-17mm, not fit for small pile head vehicles.
